Dion Myers scored his maiden T20I but his effort was in vain as India beat Zimbabwe by 23 runs in third T20I to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series at Harare Sports Club.
Chasing 183, Zimbabwe scored 60 for 5 in the first ten overs, and 99 for 1 in the last ten overs as they recovered after a very poor start.
That they came back into the game was down to 77-run sixth-wicket stand between Dion Myers and Clive Madande.
Myers scored his maiden T20I fifty finishing unbeaten on 65 off 49 balls.
The former Zimbabwe Under-19 captain struck seven boundaries and a six as he gave the hosts some hope after another dismal start with the bat.
Zimbabwe will also be ruing the number of misfields and dropped catches in the first innings that helped India get away to 182 in the first place.
India’s captain Shubman Gill top-scored for India with 66 off 49 as the visitors posted 182 for 4 in 20 overs against Zimbabwe, after opting to bat first.
Ruturaj Gaikwad too played a crucial knock of 49 off 28 balls.
For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani scalped two wickets each.
During Zimbabwe’s chase, Washington Sundar returned figures of 3 for 15 in four overs to restrict the side to 159 for six.
India leads the five-match series 2-1. It won the second T20 by 100 runs, after losing the first by 13 runs.
The final two T20s will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
