Experienced Zimbabwe women’s cricket team opening batter Modester Mupachikwa scored a solid half-century as her side beat the USA by six wickets wickets in the second One Day International at Harare Sports Club on Sunday to take a 2-0 series lead.
Earlier Zimbabwe bowled out the USA for 248 runs in 49.4 overs with left arm seaemer Nomvelo Sibanda claiming 3-41 while skipper Josephine Nkomo took two wickets for 36 runs.

Sindhu Sriharsha top scored for USA with a handy 69, with further contributions from Aditiba Chudasama (41) and Disha Dhingra (39) ensuring the USA posted a competitive total.
Mupachikwa led Zimbabwe’s run chase with a patient but entertaining innings of 77 runs from 113 deliveries which featured nine boundaries.
Teen sensation Beloved Biza was unlucky not to score her maiden half century in only her second match after being dismissed for 46 runs off 61 balls.

Former skipper Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano also put on a good performance with the bat after scoring a 50-ball 38.
After the late dismissals of Mupachikwa and Biza in quick succession, the duo of Nkomo (20 off 17 balls and Ashley Ndiraya (28 off 31) held firm with unbeaten knocks to ensure Zimbabwe cruised to a comfortable victory.
The next game in the five-match series will be played on Wednesday at the same venue.
