Warriors’ captain Marvellous Nakamba was part of the Birmingham leg of ZIFA’s diaspora engagement which concluded the association efforts to connect, inspired and exchange ideas with Zimbabweans in diaspora especially young footballers on yesterday.
The first leg of such an engagement was held in London on Wednesday.
ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi and Warriors’ coach Michael Nees graced both events which the association described as successful.
“The second leg of “Roots & Dreams – A Conversation with ZIFA” was succesfully concluded in Birmingham. The outreach initiative was graced by ZIFA President Mr Nqobile Magwizi, Warriors Head Coach Mr Michael Nees, and Warriors Captain Marvelous Nakamba.
“The event brought together members of the Zimbabwean community in the Birmingham area and served as a key platform to connect, inspire, and exchange ideas around the growth and development of Zimbabwean football.
“President Magwizi took the opportunity to share the vision of the Association and outlined ZIFA’s strategic objectives aimed at building a modern, inclusive, and results-driven football ecosystem. He emphasised the importance of establishing creative systems and structures that enable Zimbabweans in the diaspora to play a meaningful role in the advancement of the game at home.
“Coach Michael Nees engaged with the community on the future of the Warriors, reinforcing the technical direction of the national team, while Captain Marvelous Nakamba offered words of encouragement and unity, drawing from his own experiences and journey in international football.
“The Roots & Dreams initiative remains a critical pillar of ZIFA’s commitment to inclusivity and progress, and this Birmingham engagement reaffirmed the power of unity between local and diaspora communities.
“ZIFA expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and contributed to this vibrant and inspiring occasion. We remain steadfast in our belief that, together, we can unlock the full potential of Zimbabwean football – at home and abroad,” ZIFA said in a statement.
According to ZIFA, this unique series of engagements offers aspiring young players a chance to meet and interact with association president and Warriors Head Coach in order to learn more about the pathways to national team representation, share experiences, and strengthen the bond between Zimbabwean
football and its passionate diaspora.
Magwizi and Nees also took time to pay a courtesy call on the Zimbabwe Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency, Colonel (Rtd) Christian Katsande, at Zimbabwe House in London.
