Former South Africa pacer Charl Langeveldt has been appointed Zimbabwe’s new bowling coach, joining his compatriot Justin Sammons who was recently named the new Chevrons head coach.

Langeveldt is expected to bring a wealth of experience in Zimbabwe’s dressing room having previously enjoyed sucess in similar roles with his native South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

His most recent assignment was with Afghanistan until the ODI World Cup held in India last year.

The former South African fast bowler played 87 international matches over nine years from 2001 to 2010.

Additionally, former Zimbabwe batter Stuart Matsikenyeri, who was the interim head coach before the full-time appointment of Sammons, remains in the coaching staff as the fielding coach.

Langeveldt and Matsikenyeri will join Sammons and newly appointed assistant coach Dion Ebrahim.

South Africans Ravish Govind and Kurtley Diesel will join the backroom staff as strategic performance coach and conditioning coach, respectively.

The new coaching setup will be hoping for a positive start to their tenure when Zimbabwe hosts a depleted Indian side for a five-match T20 series starting on Friday at Harare Sports Club.
