Triathlon Zimbabwe will have their sights on identifying new and upcoming talent when they host the Springvale House Preparatory School Triathlon event in collaboration with the Marondera-based school on Sunday.
Participants from all age groups are set to compete in both individual and team events during the inaugural edition of the fun-filled event.
Some of the categories on show include tri-kids comprising of a 1km bike and a 400m-run.
Other events include the tri-sport, tri-fit, super-sprint, and the ultimate sprint event comprising of a 500m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.
Triathlon Zimbabwe secretary-general Carol Pakenham said: “This is a great development opportunity for Triathlon Zimbabwe to showcase our sport and to encourage participation by everyone of all ages and capabilities to come and Try a Tri on Sunday. We are very excited to provide technical assistance to the organisers and parents from Springvale School and the PTA (Parent Teacher Association), so please come and support.”
The Springvale Triathlon event comes exactly a week after Triathlon Zimbabwe successfully hosted the 11th edition of the Annual Fun Pink Triathlon at Mount Pleasant Pool in Harare last Sunday, with all the proceeds being channelled towards the Cancer Centre.
The national association have held a number of events since the start of the season in September and this presents another opportunity for the youth and juniors to prepare themselves for the next selection event.
