Zimbabwe’s Olivia Beamish won the girls’ cadet road race at the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Road African Championships in Kenya, improving on the bronze she took at the same event last year.
Beamish won the 38.2km race ahead of Rwanda’s Agasaro Gloria and Liza Jehovaire, who took silver and bronze.
Cycling Zimbabwe said Beamish also beat riders from Algeria, Benin, Kenya, Botswana and Egypt, and congratulated her on social media for showing “incredible grit and talent” on the continental stage.

Beamish won bronze in the 2025 championships, held in Kwale, Kenya.
She has also represented Zimbabwe with distinction in triathlon.
Her victory gives Zimbabwe its first gold medal at the continental competition, which has attracted cyclists from across Africa.
Zimbabwe has fielded 19 athletes at the championships and will be looking to build on Beamish’s success as the competition progresses.
Among the other cyclists expected to make an impact are Rohnan Nicholson, who is targeting the Dakar Youth Olympic Games, and seasoned campaigners Stacey Hislop and Skye Davidson, who have represented Zimbabwe at the African Games.
