FC Platinum and Dynamos face-off in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava on Saturday

Champions FC Platinum will be seeking to return to winning ways after last week’s shock defeat away at Bulawayo Chiefs when they host Harare giants Dynamos in a potentially explosive Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

It is the biggest attraction of the week four round of matches with Dynamos hoping to get one back from the team that dumped them from the Chibuku Cup at the semi-final stage last year.

Dynamos had looked invincible in the premier knockout competition going on an 11-match unbeaten run which was halted by the eventual champions albeit through a brilliant extra-time goal from a free-kick by Innocent Mucheneka three months ago.

However, FC Platinum are still smarting from a 2-0 defeat away at ambitious side Bulawayo Chiefs last Sunday and will be hoping to bounce back in yet another tricky encounter.

The Zvishavane-based decided not to renew contracts for a number of key players in January including Stanley Ngala, Kevin Madzongwe, Rahman Kutsanzira and Ralph Kawondera who joined Dynamos.

Silas Songani left for Europe while Perfect Chikwende who was returning from Tanzania opted to join Bulawayo Chiefs.

But the club also beefed up its squad with players such as Juan Mutudza who was in Dynamos books last year as well as former Young Warriors star Walter Musona and Nigel Makumbe from Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Meanwhile, Dynamos who already had a strong squad from last will be looking to unleash their new signings such as Ralph Kawondera, defender Brendon Mpofu from rivals Caps United and former striker Evans Katema.

The Glamour Boys have also signed foreign players Nigerian Alex Orotomal, Ghanaians Emmanuel Paga and Martin Ofori.

Currently, Dynamos and FC Platinum are tied on six points from the first three matches but the latter have enjoyed some form of dominance over their rivals in recent years.

FC Platinum have lost one in the last seven league matches against Dynamos and won five times in the process while one match ended in a draw.

But FC Platinum failed to beat Dynamos in the last two matches between the two teams.

In other matches focus will also be on Bulawayo Chiefs who have another acid test against 2015 champions Chicken Inn at Luveve on Saturday.

Log leaders Manica Diamonds will be hoping to maintain their 100% record in the league when they make the trip from Mutare to Harare to face Herentals at the National Sports Stadium.

Fading Harare giants CAPS United conclude the weekend round of fixtures with a tricky affair against platinum miners Ngezi at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.
