Ex-Ghana coach Kuzorera appointed Wise Owl Group of Schools’ new director of rugby

Former Ghana national rugby team coach Lovemore “Dallas” Kuzorera has bounced back on the Zimbabwe rugby scene following his appointment as new the director of rugby at the Marondera-based Wise Owl Group of Schools.

The 39-year-old Kuzorera who is widely regarded as one of the country’s highly rated young rugby tacticians has been creditef for transforming Ghana into a competitive side both in men and women’s rugby on the continent.

Kuzorera will team up with the Mbare Rugby Academy founder Victor Pekani, currently serving as the school’s rugby first team coach.

Wise Owl confirmed the signing of Kuzorera in a statement on their social media platforms on Monday morning.

“It is with great pleasure that we introduce our new Director of Rugby Lovemore ‘Dallars’ Kuzorera,” Wise Owl said in a statement.

“Coach Dallas is a qualified World rugby Coach Educator and has World rugby 15s level 2 and World rugby 7s level 1 qualifications. We welcome him to the Wise Owl Family.”

Lovemore Kuzorera is widely regarded as of the country’s most highly rated young coaches

Kuzorera, born and raised in Harare’s Mabvuku township, started his coaching career in 2003 when he became a rugby development officer for Mabvuku Sports Center and Coached Tafara 1 High School in 2003, Mabvuku High School from 2004 to 2006, Allan Wilson Boys High from 2007 to 2012 (as Head Coach), then Prince Edward school from 2013-2016 (U16 Coach).

Wise Owl outlined Kuzorera’s achievements both on the local rugby circuit and beyond the country’s borders.

“At provincial level Dallars coached Harare province u18 select 2012-13 l, Harare province U16 2014, Harare province U13 2015-16

“At national level he coached Ghana National rugby team as Head Coach from 2016-2023

“He has made great achievements both in Zimbabwe and Ghana, some of which include: Mabvuku High unbeaten season 2006, Allan Wilson unbeaten season 2011 and 2012, Prince Edward u16 unbeaten 2013 and 2016, Conquerors SC Ghana unbeaten seasons 2016/17 2017/18

The school added: “And in Ghana as the head coach, he has accomplished the following:

*Ghana national team 15s won the Africa Cup Regional West 1 2017 promoted to bronze Cup.

*Ghana won 2018 Africa Cup bronze cup on first participation and got promoted to Silver Cup.

*Ghana won the Africa Cup pre qualifiers 2019 match against Botswana to enter the top 12 Africa World Cup qualifiers
Ghana won the Africa cup 7s challenge trophy 2019 both men and women
Ghana won the west Africa 7s Africa cup pre qualifiers both men and women in 2021.

*Ghana women’s silver medal winners in Zambia Africa cup 7s pre qualifies.”
