Zambian giants Green Buffaloes Women Football Club have completed the signing of prolific Zimbabwean striker Ethel Precious Tapiwa Chinyerere as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Widely known as the “Zimbabwean Haaland” for her lethal finishing and relentless attacking instincts, Chinyerere joins the Zambia Women’s Super League side from Chapungu Queens following another prolific season in front of goal.
Chinyerere arrives in Lusaka with a growing reputation as one of Southern Africa’s most clinical forwards.
The 2022 Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League Golden Boot winner scored an impressive 35 goals for club and country last season, underlining her consistency and eye for goal.
Her outstanding form also earned her a debut for the Zimbabwe women’s national football team in 2024, and she has since netted seven goals in 10 appearances for the Mighty Warriors.
The Gweru-born striker began playing football at the age of six, featuring in street matches with boys’ teams at Mkoba 4 Primary School before progressing through Chipembere Queens, FC Geo, Herentals Queens and Chapungu Queens.
Her list of recent honours includes:
- 2022 Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League Golden Boot
- 2024 Heart Cup Golden Boot
- 2024 Heart Cup Player of the Tournament
- 2024 Footballers Union of Zimbabwe Player of the Year
Selection in the 2024 FUZ Best XI
Chinyerere was also part of Zimbabwe’s squad that finished fourth at the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa, featuring in every match.
In welcoming their new signing, Green Buffaloes described Chinyerere’s arrival as a significant boost to their ambitions.
