Highlanders have sacked coach Mandla Mpofu after several weeks of speculation concerning his future due to poor performances.

The Bosso leadership reportedly met with Mpofu and his supporting staff on Tuesday where a decision was made to sack Mpofu together with his entire technical team.

The other members of the technical team which have been fired include assistant coaches Bekithemba Ndlovu, Julias Ndlovu and welfare manager Vezigama Dlodlo.

Former Warriors winger Joel Lupahla, who was recently roped in the Bosso technical team was spared the axe amid reports that he is expected to take over as interim head coach.

Pressure has been mounting on the club to fire Mpofu following a dismal run of poor results in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Highlanders have so far won three games, drew seven and lost three with two other matches against Dynamos and FC Platinum awaiting the outcome of disciplinary hearings.

The Bulawayo giants perch precariously on position 12 on 16 points a mere two clear of the relegation zone.
