Zimbabwean motor racing driver Axcil Jefferies will line up for the Iron Lynx during the upcoming European Le Mans Series season as he continues to enhance his status as one of the continent’s leading professional drivers.

Jefferies, who is a two-time Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East champion will join Lamborghini factory driver Andrea Caldarelli and Hiroshi Hamaguchi aboard Iron Lynx’s No. 63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 as they seek success in the European Le Mans Series.

Jefferies, brings plenty of sportscar experience to the Iron Lynx LMGT3 programme.

The Zimbabwean star has raced in the discipline since 2017 after a single-seater career across Europe, the Pacific and the United States.

He has been racing in many championships over the last few years, including briefly in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023, but is yet to race in European Le Mans Series.

He will be joined by Caldarelli, who adds the ELMS to a busy 2024 schedule that also includes the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with the Italian marque’s LMDh program and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

Hamaguchi was the only driver named for the Iron Lynx’s LMGT3 effort previously, with the Bronze-rated Japanese driver stepping up from the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

“It is great to finally be able to announce our complete European Le Mans Series line-up, uniting with Hiroshi,” said Iron Lynx team principal Andrea Piccini.

“We all know the qualities Andrea brings to the table, and he is an enormous asset to have on any team. It is also great to welcome Axcil to the Iron Lynx family. He is a strong driver in any GT3 he steps into, and everybody looks forward to working closely with him.

“This is the ideal pairing to have working with Hiroshi who has been hard at work preparing for this coming season.”

On top of its LMGT3 entry, Iron Lynx is also running a car in the LMP2 class of the ELMS this year in collaboration with Proton Competition, to be shared by Matteo Cairoli, Jonas Ried and Maceo Capietto.
