Zimbabwe international forward Tino Kadewere has completed a move from French top-flight side FC Nantes to Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.
The 29-year-old striker is currently in Greece for a medical examination before finalizing a two-year contract.
Kadewere’s departure marks the 14th player to leave the Nantes squad this summer.
He joined Nantes from Olympique Lyon in January 2024.
The former Harare City man confirmed his departure on Saturday after posting a picture with Nantes teammates and wrote ‘End of an Era ‘.
Sources in Greece, including Novasport, indicated Aris Thessaloniki’s interest earlier in the week.
French publication L’Equipe yesterday reported that Nantes will not receive a transfer fee for Kadewere, who also arrived on a free transfer from Lyon.
However, Nantes has negotiated a 20% sell-on clause, entitling them to a percentage of any future transfer fee Aris may receive for the player.
The move sees Kadewere join the team that finished fifth in the Greek Championship last season.
It is understood that Kadewere wanted to remain in Nantes, but was forced to leave because the club aims to reduce the budget as much as possible.
Aris are competing in the UEFA Conference League and play Azerbaijan side Araz-Naxçıvan in the first leg of the second round qualifiers beginning on Thursday.
Kadewere arrived in France in 2018 after he joined Le Havre in Ligue 2 before a big money move to Lyon in the top flight league in 2020.
Nantes, meanwhile, continues to re-shape its squad, with a significant number of departures including Moses Simon, Pedro Chirivella, Alban Lafont, and Douglas Augusto.
The club has also brought in new players, including Alexis Mirbach, Uros Radakovic, and Youssef El-Arabi, with Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem expected to join soon.
