Kieran Vincent makes LIV debut, joins brother Scott in Washington DC event

Harare – Zimbabwe’s golfing brother Scott and Kieran Vincent had an opportunity to play in their first LIV Golf event together at the LIV Golf Washington DC at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia in the USA at the weekend.

Scott, who has full status on the LIV Golf circuit for this season, was part of the 48-man field that teed off last Friday in the 54-hole no cut event.

The 31-year-old golfer, who is part of the Iron Heads GC team, continued with his fine form after he finished tied on position 18 after carding scores of 69, 72 and 69 for a three-under-par 283 total.

Mhondoro, as Scott is affectionately known was tied on 18th with Graeme McDowell, Eugenio Chacarra, Luarie Canter and Pat Perez.

The quintet all claimed $250 000 each for finishing 18th while the winner Harold Varner III from the USA took home the top prize of $4 million.

Scott Vincent of Iron Heads GC hits his shot from the 14th tee during the first round of LIV Golf DC at the Trump National Golf Club Washington DC on Friday, May 26, 2023 in Sterling, Virginia.

For the first time since earning the ticket to play on the LIV Golf Invitational circuit, Scott was joined in the field by his young brother Kieran on the second day of the tournament.

Kieran, who was been one of the alternates for the last few LIV Golf events, finally got his chance to play on the lucrative circuit after being ropped in as a replacement for injured Jason Kokrak of the Smash GC team prior to the second round.

Playing in his first LIV Golf event and in the same team as recent PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka, Kieran put in a decent show carding rounds of 74 and 72.

Kieran, who recently claimed his maiden win on the Asian Tour during the International Series Vietnam is tipped to join his brother full-time on the LIV Golf circuit in the future.

For that to happen he would need to finish at the top of the International Series Order of Merit standings, while his brother Scott needs to finisb in the top 24 on the LIV Golf season-long points to be exempt into the 2024 season.
