Lomagundi College wins The Heritage School Under-15s cricket tourney

Lomagundi College's U15 boys cricket team came tops at The Heritage Cricket Tournament this past weekend

Lomagundi College were crowned the winners of The Heritage School Under-15 T20 Cricket Tournament after beating Christian Brothers College by 17 runs in the final on Saturday.

Eight teams from sevens schools, namely Petra, Lomagundi, Hillcrest, Westridge, CBC, Eaglesvale and hosts The Heritage took part in the two-day tournament which is meant to give much-needed competitive game time to aspiring cricketers at a young age.

Takunda Muromba from Lomagundi was named the Player of the Match in the final after taking three wickets to restrict CBC to 120 for four after his side had reached a total of 137 for two in their allotted overs.

The victory capped off a successful weekend for the Lomagundi, who were unbeaten throughout the competition while their star player Zivi Makunike, who top scored with 47 in the final was named the Player of the Tournament.

The Batsman of the tournament accolade was won by Lee Ellerman of CBC after his impressive individual performances in his team’s run to the final.

CBC’s Josh Armstrong was named the Wicketkeeper of the Tournament while the Bowler of the Tournament accolade was won by Z. Munyonga, who also walked away with the Catch of the Tournament Award.
