France-based Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi is in red hot form ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The gifted midfielder yet again underlined his importance at French side Stade de Reims after providing two assists for double scorer Keito Nakamura in their 2-1 win over Lille in Tuesday’s Ligue 1 game.
Munetsi was afterwards named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week by the French daily newpaper L’Équipe.

The two assists against Lille took Munetsi’s tally to three this season.
Munetsi, who has flourished in an attacking midfield role, set up his team’s opening goal in the 12th minute before providing another assist in the 16th minute to make it 2-0.
The 27-year-old has scored one goal in the French topflight this season.
He was part of the Zimbabwe team that featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Barring injuries, he is expected to be in action for Zimbabwe when the Warriors host Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November, 2023.
Munetsi was signed by South African side Cape Town in July 2015 who in a statement said he was in the mould of a typical Yaya Touré, big‚ strong‚ mobile and a good passer of the ball.
On 11 June 2019, Munetsi signed for Ligue 1 club Reims on a four-year deal.
He made his debut for Zimbabwe in 2018 and has made 23 appearances and has scored one goal.
Munetsi is one of the favourites to take over the Warriors captain’s armband from retired ex-skipper Knowledge Musona during the World Cup qualifiers.
Amazing performance by the team @StadeDeReims
We keep going ❤️💪🏽
