Fresh from recently becoming the first Zimbabwean to feature in the Women’s Big Bash League, Lady Chevrons star Anesu Mushangwe is poised to make another major milestone in her career.

Mushangwe was on Friday named in the South Australian (SA) Scorpions squad ahead of the start of the Women’s National Cricket League.

The SA Scorpions are South Australia’s elite women’s cricket team, competing in the national 50-over domestic Women’s National Cricket League competition.

Twenty-six year-old Mushangwe is in line to earn her debut for the provincial team when they resume their league campaign against the ACT Meteors in Canberra on Sunday, and Tuesday, December 20.

The gifted leg spinner joined the Scorpions training group post Women’s Big Bash League and is one of the two potential debutants together with fast bowling all-rounder Ella Wilson.

Wilson was early this week named in the inaugural ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup Australian squad.

Jemma Barsby will captain in the absence of Megan Schutt who is currently in India playing for Australia.

Scorpions squad of 13: Jemma Barsby (c), Sam Betts, Emma de Broughe, Josie Dooley, Ellie Falconer, Brooke Harris, Anesu Mushangwe, Annie O’Neil, Bridget Patterson, Maddie Penna, Kate Peterson, Courtney Webb, Ella Wilson
