Zimbabwean amateur golfer Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa has been recognised for his impressive debut season at Drexel University after being awarded All American Honours by the Black College Golf Coaches Association.
Nyamukondiwa and his Drexel teammate Jeffrey Cunningham were on Wednesday among the black college golfers in all divisions who were honoured thanks to a partnership with the Black College Golf Coaches Association and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Honours include the Adrian Stills Award (Black College Golfer of the Year), HBCU Golfer of the Year, BCGCA All-America Team, BCGCA and HBCU Outstanding Freshmen of the Year, BCGCA All-Freshmen Team, and BCGCA and HBCU Coaches of the Year.
Nyamukondiwa, one of the new players on the Drexel University Dragons roster, made an immediate impact on the team, underlining his status as one of the brightest golfing prospects to come from Zimbabwe’s junior ranks in recent years.
The former Zimbabwe junior team captain won the Yale Spring Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut in April.

Nyamukondiwa, a transfer from West Texas College, shot three-under-par 137 in the one-day, 36-hole event. He fired a three-under-par 67 in the afternoon after shooting even par in the morning round.
It was his first tournament win at Drexel. Nyamukondiwa had six birdies in his second round on his way to a career-best round. He led all players in the field with eight birdies overall.
Nyamukondowa followed that by carding 70 (-2) in the second round of the CAA Championships at Dataw.
Meanwhile, Cunningham won the award after finishing his career at Drexel with his best season. The fifth-year student ended the 2021-22 season with a 72.1 scoring average, the seventh lowest total in Drexel school history. In addition, Cunningham became the first African American to advance to the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship in June.
