Dynamos were handed a reality check after slumping to their first defeat of the 2021-2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season as they lost 1-0 to Triangle United at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday.
After being knocked out in the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup following an extra-time defeat against FC Platinum, Dynamos were eager to get back to winning ways in the league where they started the campaign with a controversial victory against Yadah in the league opener.
DeMbare however found themselves on the back foot straight away as Triangle took the lead in the 10th minute through Donald Mudadi’s goal.
The Glamour Boys has opportunities to draw level with midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa’s strike coming off the woodwork in the 57th minute before substitute Albert Eonde also hit the frame of the goal with a rising shot two minutes before full-time.
In the end, Triangle held on for their first win of the season as they bounced back from a 1-0 defeat away to Bulawayo Chiefs on the opening day of the season while Tonderai Ndiraya’s charges were given a reality check in the first real test of their title credentials this season.
Meanwhile, Highlanders collected their first point of the season after settling for a goalless draw against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Babourfields Stadium.
The Bulawayo giants were eager to get their campaign on track after succumbing to a shock defeat in their first game of the season against Black Rhinos.
At the National Sports Stadium Lloyd Chitembwe began his third spell at CAPS United with a goalless draw against his former club Harare City.
Club legend Chitembwe retraced his roots to CAPS United early this month to take over the coaching reigns following the dismissal of Darlington Dodo due to the team’s dismissal performance in the Chibuku Super Cup.
Makepekepe began their season with another goalless draw against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga which means they are yet to score or concede a goal this season.
After the first two matches of the new season FC Platinum and Manica Diamonds, who were both in action on Saturday are the only teams still with a perfect record after winning their first two games.
