Sikandar Raza

Zimbabwe’sT20 captain Sikandar Raza says he will be available to lead the country when they take on Bangladesh in a five-match T20 series early next month.

The veteran allrounder’s participation in the upcoming series in Bangladesh has been the subject of speculation due to his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he is on the books of the
Punjab Kings.

However Raza has allayed any fears that he could miss the trip to Bangladesh.

“I promised [Zimbabwe Cricket] that I’ll not miss a white-ball game for my country, no matter which league I have to leave for it,” Raza said in an interview with Cricwick

“If Zimbabwe tells me now that we have a series after three days, and the opponent is even Nigeria, I don’t care. If Zimbabwe has picked me, I will leave PSL. If a series comes during the IPL, I’ll leave the IPL. GT20, CPL, ILT20, no matter which league it is.”

Raza also confirmed he will take a small break after the Bangladesh series before he heads over to England for the the Vitality Blast, where he will represent Northamptonshire.

Zimbabwe will play the first three T20Is against Bangladesh in Chattogram on May 3, 5 and 7, and the last two T20Is in Dhaka on May 10 and 12.
