Zimbabwe’s T20I captain Sikandar Raza has been named in the the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year 2024 after yet another successful season for the veteran all-rounder.

Raza has been the backbone of the Zimbabwean team, especially in T20Is, for the last few years.

This is the third successive year that Raza has been named in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year after his debut appearance on the elite list in 2022.

He carried the team once more on his shoulders during 2024. Raza scored 573 runs in 24 matches at an average of 28.65 and a strike rate of 146.54.

While he was brilliant with the bat, Raza also delivered with the ball, picking up 24 wickets in 24 matches at an economy of 6.52.

Meanwhile Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed that Raza will not be available to play in the one-off Test against Ireland next month.

The announcement was made as part of the confirmation of the squads for the upcoming multi-format series.

Raza had already committed to franchise cricket before the tour schedule was finalized, which means he will miss the Test match set to take place between February 6-10 in Bulawayo.

However, the T20I skipper will be available for the white-ball leg of the series, which begins with three ODIs on February 14, 16, and 18, followed by three T20Is on February 22, 23, and 25.
