Raza signed by Manchester Originals in The Hundred Draft


Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza will join the Manchester Originals for the upcoming season of The Hundred 2024 after being picked during the competition’s draft held on Thursday.

Raza who is currently in India for the IPL, was the only Zimbabwe international to be signed during the eagerly awaited draft, where more than 600 players put themselves forward for selection with just 32 deals up for grabs.

As expected the inspirational Zimbabwe captain managed to secure a move witj Manchester Originals, runners‑up last year offering him a deal.

Raza had a reserve price of £100 000.

The ­spin-bowling all‑rounder, who was recently signed by Nottinghamshire for this year’s T20 Blast was joined on the Manchester Origials roster by and the Afghanistan seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Raza will now add The Hundred to his growing list of international gigs in recent months having already featured in the ILT20, the Pakistan Super League, the Bangladesh Premier League, the Lanka Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and the upcoming Indian Premier League.

The Pakistan-born star is also amongst a host of international stars who will feature in the inaugural edition of the Scottish Super 10.

The new men’s and women’s franchise tournament is scheduled to take place in Aberdeen from August 16-31.

However before heading to Scotland he will first feature in this year’s edition of The Hundred, which will be the fourth after its introduction in 2021.

No Zimbabwean international has ever played in The Hundred before.

Each teams features some of the best international and domestic cricketers from around the world, including England Men’s & Women’s World Cup winners.
