Zimbabwean golf star Scott Vincent has earned a major boost to his 2026 season after being drafted into HyFlyers GC as a replacement for American legend Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson is currently away from the team due to a family health issue, opening the door for Vincent to step into the LIV Golf team format for this week’s tournament in Mexico City.
The HyFlyers confirmed Vincent’s signing in an official statement.
“We are excited to welcome Scott Vincent to HyFlyers GC. He will be stepping in for Phil until he returns. Scott tees off with us this week in Mexico City.”
The move is a reward for Vincent’s strong and consistent form on the LIV Golf League this season, where he has been competing as a wildcard after regaining his status on the circuit last year.
Vincent will make his debut for HyFlyers GC at Club de Golf Chapultepec, with the team currently sitting 11th in the 13-team standings.
He joins a squad that includes Michael La Sasso and Brendan Steele, with HyFlyers hoping the Zimbabwean can provide the consistency they have lacked in Mickelson’s absence.
Five tournaments into the season, Vincent has been one of the most reliable performers on the LIV circuit. He currently sits 24th in the individual standings despite competing without a permanent team.
His season began strongly with a tied-13th finish at LIV Golf Riyadh in Saudi Arabia before he followed up with a tie for 24th in Adelaide.
Although he slipped to tied-31st in Hong Kong, Vincent bounced back with a tied-17th finish in Singapore.
His best performance came at the historic LIV Golf South Africa event at Steyn City near Johannesburg, where he thrilled Zimbabwean fans with a closing six-under-par 65 to finish solo 11th on 19-under-par 265.
That performance also earned Vincent his biggest payday of the season, pocketing US$380,000.
Now, with a place in HyFlyers GC, Vincent has another opportunity to prove himself on one of golf’s biggest stages while flying the Zimbabwean flag high.
