Zimbabwean junior golfer Miriam Masiya defied her age to be crowned the winner of girls’ longest drive contest at the All Africa Junior Golf Championship at the par-72 Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Uganda on Wednesday.
Masiya, a 13-year-old budding golfer from Masvingo Golf Club hit the ball furthest among the girls on the par 4 hole 16, to oushine participants from other African countries.
She dedicated her win to the father-cum-personal coach Richard Masiya, a golf coach at Masvingo Golf Club.
“I am more than happy for winning the longest drive contest at the 2023 All Africa Junior Golf Championship in Uganda. This is a push factor to my career. I dedicate my prize to my father, who is also my father” noted Masiya, who is a Form 1 student at Mucheke High School in Masvingo.
Masiya’s longest drive shot came off the Bloom driver that perfectly hit the Titlest 8-Red ball.
Uganda’s Abdul Kakeeto was crowned the winner in the boys’ competition.
The two junior golfers received crowns and specially crafted plaques.

Well done Miriam Masiya, keep the fire burning ! Your dedication to the game of golf humbles me !
