After losing the first two ODIs, there were really no expectations from Zimbabwe and they were expected to lose the third ODI as well.

For the first time in the series, Australia batted first and their batters failed the challenge.

David Warner was the sole batter who breached the 20-run mark and he was dismissed for 94 off 96.

No other Australian batter managed to score more than 20 and the home team was bowled out for 141 in 30 overs.

Ryan Burl shone with the ball and took a five-for in only overs overs he bowled.

Despite putting up a low total on the board, Australia would have been confident of still securing a win and at one stage, Zimbabwe were five down for 77.

The 38-run partnership for the sixth wicket between skipper Regis Chakabva who finished unbeaten on 37  Tony Munyonga (17) left Zimbabwe on the brink of a win and they finally scaled the chase with a boundary on the final delivery of the 39th over.

Burl was named the Player of the Match for his remarkable bowling figures of five for 10 runs and all-important knock of 11. Adam Zampa was adjudged as the player of the series for his consistent performance in the series.

Zimbabwe will return to international action next month when they feature at the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia .
