Zemura provides assist on official Udinese debut

Warriors’ fullback Jordan Zemura recorded an assist on his competitive debut for Italian Serie A side Udinese as they routed lower league side US Catanzaro 4 – 1 in a Coppa Italia first round tie at home on Friday evening.

Zemura joined the Serie A outfit after dumping English Premier League side Bournemouth at the end of last season.

On Friday the Zimbabwe international played 67 minutes and manufactured the club’s second goal scored by Portuguese forward Beto early in the second half.

Beto’s 49th minute strike gave Udinese a 2 – 1 after the two teams went to the break level.

Udinese took the lead courtesy of a Sandi Lovric 9th minute goal before the visitors restored parity three minutes later through Belgian midfielder Jari Vandeputte.

Second half goals from Beto, French man Florian Thauvin and substitute Lorenzo Lucca in stoppage gave Udinese an emphatic win.

Deployed as a wing back with team team playing with a back three Zemura was replaced by Ivory Coast international Hassane Kamara about halfway through the second half.

Zemura is set to make his Seria A debut when Udinese host Italian football giants Juventus next Sunday.

He will become the first Zimbabwean to play in the Serie A.
