Olympic hopeful Andie Kuipers will have an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the world’s leading triathletes when he takes part in the Americas Triathlon Cup 2021 Americas Triathlon Cup this weekend.
The 2021 Americas Triathlon Cup 2021 Americas Triathlon Cup which will be held in Salinas a coastal town on the western tip of Ecuador’s Santa Elena province on Sunday.
Kuipers will be making her debut in the women’s elite category on the World Triathlon circuit in the women’s elite field with features 16 participants from around the world.
The 19 year-old former Peterhouse Girls student is a past youth and junior national champion and has represented Zimbabwe at several African Cup, African Championship, Africa Games and World Championship triathlon events as a junior.
She left for the States last year and is studying and training at Lenoir-Rhyne University in the USA.
In a statement Zimbabwe national triathlon coach Pam Fulton sent a message to Andie and her US coach ahead of the event in Ecuador.
“Thinking of you both as you prepare to travel to Salinas, and hoping all is going well. Wishing you a really good race Andie, and hope you have a fantastic experience as you start your elite career. Hoping your many years of hard work and dedication start to pay off as you start to build your elite ranking, Bryant, thank you very much for stepping in and supporting Andie, very exciting times ahead,” Fulton said.
Kuipers has been enjoying an impressive season in the US and was recently awarded All-American honours for her exploits on the US collegiate circuit.
