Harare, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) today announced that Sri Lanka will tour Zimbabwe later this year for a highly anticipated white-ball series.
The tour, to be exclusively held in Harare, will feature two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), serving as vital preparation for the Chevrons ahead of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The series kicks off with the ODIs on Friday, August 29th, and Sunday, August 31st, both starting at 09:30 CAT.
Following the 50-over contests, the focus shifts to the shortest format with T20Is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd, Saturday, September 6th, and Sunday, September 7th.
All T20I matches will have a 13:30 CAT start time.
Every game throughout the tour will be played at the iconic Harare Sports Club.
ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming series. “We are delighted to confirm Sri Lanka’s visit to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a thrilling and competitive series,” Makoni said.
“Matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket and this tour comes at a crucial time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign.”
Indeed, the T20I leg of the series holds particular significance for Zimbabwe.
These matches will provide essential match practice and strategic insights as the team gears up to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final from September 19th to October 4th.
This regional tournament will be the determining factor for the last two African qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
