Paul Warne says Tawanda Chirewa must fight to get back into his Derby County squad following his return to full fitness, after over two months on the sidelines due to injury.
Chirewa has made just three appearances since signing on a season-long loan from the Premier League club, a situation not helped by a quad muscle injury.
But the Zimbabwe international is now back fit again after sustaining the problem after the defeat to Sunderland earlier in the season.
When asked if there was a conversation to be had regarding the loan, Warne says that is not currently on the agenda.
“He’s got himself back fit and now he has to get back into the squad and to do that he has train better than everybody else,” said Warne in an interview with the Derby Telegraph.

“He’s got to fight to get in and if he does that and does well then obviously he is a player I want to keep. He is here for the season. He has looked good in training. Wolves and his agent have not contacted me. He has only trained with the squad for a week so it’s too early.
“It hasn’t worked out for him or for us as well as it could have simply because he got injured. We signed two young lads and men’s football is a step up. There is always that threat that you could go and get Manchester United’s best under-21s striker, but once they play men’s football it’s just more physical. We are just unfortunate that are two young loans got injured and it’s limited their gametime with us.”
