Fifteen-year-old golf starlet Masiya clinches Zimbabwe Ladies Amatuer Open

Teenage sensation Miriam Masiya claimed the biggest win of her fledgling golf career after clinching the Zimbabwe Ladies Amateur Open at Royal Harare Golf Club on Sunday.

Masiya, who her represented the country with distinction in regional and international competitions carded scores of 78, 75 and 79 over the three rounds of strokeplay.

Fifteen-year-old Masiya starter playing golf at Masvingo Golf Club under the mentorship of her father Richard, who is a renowned golf development coach in the province.

After her success with the Zimbabwe junior golf team she earned a scholarship at the Heritage School in Borrowdale, where he has continued to excell on the golf course and in the classroom.

She was the best junior player and the overall best player of the tournament in the Zimbabwe Ladies Amateur Open which was sponsored by National AIDS Council and others associate partners.

The annual event featured all the leading female golfers in the country.
