Zimbabwe’s Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight fighter Themba Gorimbo is set to return to the Octagon in May as he seeks to continue his rise on the global stage following his impressive win last month.

Gorimbo defeated Pete Rodriguez via TKO just 32 seconds into round one of their welterweight bout in his last UFC fight on February 3.

With the dominant performance, the Zimbabwean fighter took his UFC record to 2-1, with an overall professional MMA record of 12-4.

He made his UFC debut in February 2023 and secured his maiden UFC win in May 2023.

The Masvingo-born star will be hoping to further enhance his chances of earning a shot at the coveted welterweight title when he squares off against Ramiz Brahimaj in his fourth promotional outing at a UFC Fight Night event scheduled to go down on May 18 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The news was first reported by Eurosport_Nl’s Marcel Dorff and later confirmed by Brahimaj on social media. Other announced matchups on the card include Vanessa Demopoulos vs. Emily Ducote, Luana Pinheiro vs. Angela Hill and Hailey Cowan vs. Tamires Vidal.

Gorimbo (12-4) will enter the Octagon on the heels of back-to-back victories against Rodriguez and Takashi Sato after suffering a Round 2 submission loss at the hands of A.J. Fletcher in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 219.

Meanwhile, Brahimaj (10-4) has gone 2-2 in his promotional run and is coming off a Round 1 submission victory over Micheal Gillmore in 2022. The Fortis MMA product has been out of action for more than two years due to injuries since then. The 31-year-old has recorded all his career 10 victories via submission, with nine coming in the first stanza.
