Zimbabwean golf star Kieran Vincent will be targeting to punch his maiden ticket to a major golf championship when he tees it up in Final Qualifying for the 152nd edition of The Open Championship at Lancashire Golf Club in England on Tuesday.

The 36-hole qualifying event at the historic course in Crosby, Merseyside has attracted a star studded field, with the players competing for just four spots at The 152nd Open Championship next month.

The 152nd Open, the final Major of the year, will be held at Royal Troon Golf Club, Scotland, from July 18-21.

Regional Qualifying has been completed as well as most of The Open Qualifying Series on various tours around the world to determine the final tournament field.

One of the last opportunities to compete is through the 36-hole Final Qualifying to take place on Tuesday over one of four courses: Burnham and Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire

Among the West Lancashire field is the gifted Zimbabwean Kieran Vincent, who is aiming to make his maiden appearance at golf’s oldest major.

Vincent will be hoping for better luck in the UK after he narrowly missed out on automatic qualification for the Paris Olympic Games by the smallest of margins recently.

The Harare-born golf ace could have booked his Olympic ticket had he qualified for the US Open, but came agonizingly short by a single shot.

He is currently the second alternate for the Olympics as he remains with an outside chance of emulating his brother Scott, who represented Zimbabwe at the Tokyo Olympics and finished 16th.

Vincent’s immediate focus however will be to qualify for The Open and get the chance to compete for the coveted Claret Jug.
