The Zimbabwe women’s cricket team will host their USA counterparts for a bilateral five-match ODI series from October 17 to 28.
USA has only played two ODIs since it gained ODI status in 2022 so they will be seeking to do well against the Lady Chevrons who are 14th on the latest ICC ODI rankings.
The tourists will be looking to build on the momentum from the ODI series earlier this year in the UAE against Papua New Guinea and Scotland.
This tour will mark USA’s second visit to the African nation with the first being the 2021 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier which ended prematurely due to Covid-19.
Head-to-head, USA and Zimbabwe are 1-1 in this format of the game but both encounters were not considered ODIs given that USA did not have ODI status until 2022.
In 2011, USA pulled off a memorable victory against Zimbabwe in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Bangladesh.
In 2021, Zimbabwe turned the table on USA in the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.
USA women’s head coach, Hilton Moreeng said, “We are looking forward to play ODI cricket and challenge ourselves as a team to keep improving in this format. The longer format offers a different challenge for the team, however the team shows a lot of promise and with the talented group of players we have, we’re looking forward to a successful tour in Zimbabwe.”
