Zimbabwe’s senior women’s football team booked their place in the final of the Four Nations Tournament after a commanding 3-1 victory over Lesotho at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia, on Saturday.

The Mighty Warriors produced one of their most impressive displays in recent months as goals from captain Emmaculate Msipa, in-form striker Ethel Chinyerere and veteran forward Rutendo Makore secured a deserved victory and a place in Tuesday’s title decider.

Having entered the tournament as part of their preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers, Zimbabwe showcased both attacking flair and composure against their regional rivals, controlling large spells of the contest and creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Captain Msipha once again led by example, while Chinyerere continued her fine form in front of goal following her recent move to Zambian Women’s Super League side Green Buffaloes.

Experienced campaigner Makore also got on the scoresheet as the Mighty Warriors underlined their growing confidence under the current technical setup.

The victory extends Zimbabwe’s encouraging run of performances and provides another positive sign as the team continues its rebuilding process ahead of future continental and international assignments.

Awaiting the Mighty Warriors in the final are tournament hosts Zambia, who edged Kenya 4-1 on penalties after the second semi-final had ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The final presents Zimbabwe with an opportunity to test themselves against one of Africa’s strongest women’s football nations and potentially lift silverware ahead of their upcoming international commitments.

Kenya and Lesotho will contest the third-place playoff before Zimbabwe and Zambia meet in what promises to be a highly anticipated final.

Beyond the trophy at stake, the Four Nations Tournament has provided valuable match practice and a chance for the Zimbabwe technical team to assess combinations and player performances against quality opposition as preparations continue for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign.

With confidence high following their convincing semi-final triumph, the Mighty Warriors will now be targeting one final victory to cap off a successful tournament in Zambia.
