Zimbabwe-born cricket sensation Tawanda Muyeye is set to make his debut in the Big Bash League in Australia after completing a move to the Melbourne Renegades.
Muyeye, who plays for English County Championship side Kent, was confirmed as a Melbourne Renegades player Saturday, replacing Surrey’s Laurie Evans at Marvel Stadium.
This is the 23-year-old’s first stint as an overseas player in one of the world’s top T20 leagues, after making his Vitality Blast debut for Kent in June 2022.
The right-hander joins Tom Rogers in the Renegades’ squad for their derby clash with the Melbourne Stars on Sunday morning.

Muyeye, a dynamic batter originally from Zimbabwe and now representing the Oval Invincibles and Kent in England’s white ball competitions, arrives as international replacement player for Laurie Evans.
The former Zimbabwe youth international is renowned for his explosive batting and athletic fielding, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting emerging players on the global stage.
Melbourne Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said the signings offer versatility and as the club pushes for a finals berth.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Oliver and Tawanda to the Renegades family,” Rosengarten said. “Both players have demonstrated immense potential, and we’re confident they’ll make an impact during the business end of the season.
“Oliver is a homegrown talent while Tawanda’s experience in England’s white ball tournaments is an invaluable addition.
“We’re excited to see what they can bring to the group.”
Peake and Muyeye have linked up with the squad already as the Renegades aim to solidify their place in the top four and push for a finals berth.
