Olympics star Charamba equals PB to win 200m title

    Paris Olympic Games finalist Makanakaishe Charamba cruised to victory in the men’s indoor 200m final at the Purple and Orange Invitational at Clemson University on Saturday, matching his personal best time.

    Competing in his first competitive race since the 200m final im Paris, the 23-year-old Zimbabwean sprinter, who represents Aurbun University completed the race in 20.55s.

    He finished comfortably ahead of Life Univerisity’s Daniel Williams, who took silver in 20.88s.

    Charamba not only equalled his personal best time, but also ran the second fastest Auburn indoor time.

    The gifted former Hillcrest College student is being mentored by legendary coach and former Zimbabwean hurdler Ken Harden at Aurburn University.

    Charamba had a memorable summer following outstanding performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where he reached the men’s 200m final and finished eighth.

    After his exploits at the Olympics Charamba has now set his sights on qualification for the forthcoming World Athletics Championships.

    The global athletics meet is scheduled for September 13 to 21 in Tokyo, Japan.
