Overnight leader Ricky Hendler shot a five-under-par 67 to stretch his lead in the penultimate round of the National Aids Council (NAC) HIV & Cancer Prevention Drive Pro-Am tournament at Royal Harare Golf Club on Thursday.
After starting the second round with a two-shot lead following his 68 on Wednesday, the talented 26-year-old South African continued his brilliant form to sign for a steady 67, for a two-round total of nine-under-par 135 to open up an eight-stroke lead over the rest of the field.
Hendler, who is based in Florida in the US will start the final round well clear of the local duo of Robson Chinhoi and Bradley Kulaisi, who are tied for second position on a two-round total of one-under-par 143.
Chinhoi followed up his opening round 70 by carding a level-par 72 in the second round while recently turned pro-Kulaisi rebounded from a 74 on Thursday by firing a three-under-par 69.
Seasoned Zimbabwean professional Ryan Cairns is alone in fourth on level-par 144 for the tournament after carding an impressive four-under-par 68.
The duo of Ignatius Mketekete and Mairos Katembenuka are tied for fifth position on one-over-par.
A big field of 60 golfers are taking part in the sixth edition of the HIV & Cancer Prevention Drive Pro-Am which is meant to raise awareness towards HIV and Cancer prevention.
