Unstoppable! Keegan Shutt completes hat-trick of wins with Matabeleland Amateur Championship title

Zimbabwe’s top ranked amateur golfer Keegan Shutt secured a hat-trick of tournament wins on the local circuit after shooting a 4-under 68 in the final round of the Matabeleland Amateur Championship at Bulawayo Country Club on Sunday.

After opening his campaign with rounds of 75 and 69, Shutt saved his best golf for last with the lowest round of the week for a 54-hole tournament total of four-under-par-212.

Shutt finished two shots clear of Shijie Li who shot two-under-par-214 across 54 holes that were played.

Shutt’s victory at Bulawayo Country Club comes barely two weeks after his victory at the Manicaland Amateur at Hillside Golf Club.

The Borrowdale Brooke Golf Eastate rising star also won the Julius Robinson Golf Tournament at Wingate Park Golf Club on March 2 having finished second in the R&A African Amateur Championship in South Africa in February.

With Shutt claiming the top honours and Li (69, 74, 71) finishing as the runner up, Michael Wallace setttled for third position on a 217 gross with round scores of 74, 69 and 74.

Tanaka Chatora finished fourth, with a 220 total following round scores of 72, 74 and 74.

In the ladies’ category, teenage sensation Mariam Masiya also continued with her fine form as she won the ladies’ championship with a 54-hole total of 224 following round scores of 80, 71 and 73.

Seasoned national team player Batsirai Tilowakuti finished seven shots behind the winner on a total of 231 after carding scores of 79, 78 and 74.
