The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has signed a landmark two-year, US$120,000 partnership with leading beverage manufacturer ProBottlers, securing the first-ever official hydration sponsor in the association’s history.
The agreement names ProBottlers’ flagship brands, Active8 and H2go Bottled Water, as the official hydration partners for all Zimbabwe national football teams and grassroots development programmes.
The partnership will provide hydration support across representative national teams and nationwide grassroots football development initiatives.
This strategic sponsorship is designed to professionalise Zimbabwean football by integrating sports science, proper hydration, and structured athlete welfare into team preparation and recovery.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at ZIFA headquarters, ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi described the deal as a major milestone for Zimbabwean sport.
“Today is a very important moment for Zimbabwean sport, specifically for Zimbabwean football,” said Magwizi. “This contribution goes beyond product supply; it is an investment in performance, in player welfare, and in the health and well-being of every athlete who wears our national colours.”

Magwizi emphasised that modern football demands a scientific, data-driven approach to training, recovery, and match preparation.
“Modern football requires high levels of physical preparation and recovery. Proper hydration is not a luxury—it is essential. The welfare and health of the player is very, very critical.”
The ZIFA-ProBottlers partnership aligns with the association’s broader vision to modernise governance structures and elevate performance standards to match global benchmarks.
ProBottlers Managing Director Rory Harley revealed that the company’s decision to enter into a multi-year agreement followed a successful trial collaboration during the Under-17 COSAFA Tournament.
Harley credited ZIFA’s improved governance and operational transparency under the current leadership as key factors behind the sponsorship.
“We began our engagements with ZIFA last year in a limited capacity. President Magwizi spoke of delivering measurable value to partners and strengthening governance frameworks. In the first six months, we witnessed the work happening behind the scenes. It has been impressive.”

He added that Active8 was specifically formulated to support athletic endurance, performance, and recovery.
“When an athlete exerts physically, their body uses vitamins and minerals. Our mission is to help replace that through beverage solutions that support peak performance.”
Harley expressed optimism that improved player conditioning and structured support systems could help Zimbabwe qualify for major global tournaments in the future.
The partnership takes immediate effect, providing critical support as Zimbabwe’s national teams prepare for a demanding international schedule.
By embedding professional hydration systems at grassroots and elite levels, ZIFA and ProBottlers are laying the foundation for long-term athletic development and improved international competitiveness.
The deal is also regarded as a significant commercial achievement for ZIFA’s marketing and partnerships department, signalling growing private-sector confidence in Zimbabwe football’s new direction.
