Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya extended his remarkable start to the season by scoring for a seventh consecutive match as AmaZulu faced Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on Saturday.
The Zimbabwean forward struck in the first half to take his tally to nine goals in all competitions this season, with seven coming in the league and two in the MTN8.
Ngwenya’s latest goal continued a scoring run that has established him as one of the most in-form forwards in South African football.
The 23-year-old has now scored against Stellenbosch, Sekhukhune United, Orlando Pirates, Siwelele, Mamelodi Sundowns, Richards Bay and Gallants.
He scored twice against both Sekhukhune and Sundowns during the run.
Ngwenya’s form marks a significant improvement on his first season at AmaZulu, when he scored seven goals in 19 appearances.
He has now scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for Usuthu since joining the Durban-based club from Zimbabwean champions FC Platinum in July 2025.
Twenty-four of those appearances have come as a starter.
The forward’s current run has also been recognised in Zimbabwe, with Ngwenya recently earning a place in the Warriors setup following his prolific start to the campaign.
While Ngwenya’s seven-game scoring streak is an impressive achievement, he still has some distance to go before challenging the longest consecutive scoring runs recorded in professional football.
For now, however, the former FC Platinum forward continues to set a formidable pace in front of goal as AmaZulu’s season gathers momentum.
