Zimbabwean 400m hurdles star Ashley Miller has reflected on a history-making season after finishing 11th overall at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Saturday.
Miller brought her 2026 campaign to a close after clocking 54.23 seconds to finish sixth in her heat, missing out on a place in the final but ending the season among the world’s top 11 athletes in her event.
The US-born Zimbabwean athlete, who earned US$7,000 in prize money for her performance in Budapest, described the achievement as the fulfilment of a dream that had required years of sacrifice, faith and perseverance.
“Still processing this one,” Miller wrote on social media.
“A dream that I believe God placed in my heart long before the clock or rankings ever reflected it. It’s taken years of immense sacrifice, unwavering faith, and boldly pursuing what He placed within me.
“And now, I’m standing among the best 400m hurdlers in the world.”
Miller thanked her family, coach, training partners and others who supported her throughout a breakthrough season.
“To my family, my coach, my training partners, everyone who has supported, encouraged, prayed for, and believed in me this season — thank you. This journey is never walked alone.”
The 2026 season saw Miller continue to establish herself among the leading names in the women’s 400m hurdles, culminating in her appearance at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest.
The Zimbabwean is now looking ahead to the 2027 season, with the World Athletics Championships and qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games among the major targets on the horizon.
“I’m leaving this season with a full heart and so much anticipation for what God has in store for 2027,” she said.
Miller concluded her message with a reference to Ephesians 3:20, adding: “So grateful for how far He’s brought me.”
