Zimbabwe international winger Edward Sigauke has joined English Premiership side Harlequins ahead of the 2026/27 season, continuing his rapid rise in the game.

The 22-year-old will move to the London club from 1 September after agreeing a deal with the two-time Premiership champions.

Sigauke, who made his Zimbabwe debut in 2024, has won 12 caps for the Sables and scored eight tries for his country.

He was part of the Zimbabwe side that won consecutive Africa Cup titles, helping the Sables secure qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Speaking after completing the move, Sigauke said he was determined to make the most of his opportunity at The Stoop.

“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to join Harlequins and everything that comes with it,” Sigauke said.

“I can’t wait to get started, to push myself, and grow both as a player and as a person within this squad.”

The winger said contributing to the club’s success would be as important as his individual performances.

“Adding value to the jersey means a lot to me – it’s not just about my own performance, it’s about contributing to something bigger and helping the team achieve what we’re capable of,” he said.

Sigauke has emerged as one of Zimbabwe’s most promising young players, having developed through Lomagundi College before representing Emeris University.

He helped Emeris University win the Varsity Shield in 2025, with his pace and ability to beat defenders establishing him as a potent attacking threat.

Harlequins head coach Jason Gilmore said the club had been monitoring Sigauke and believed he had the attributes to develop into a dangerous Premiership winger.

“He’s got tremendous speed and footwork that makes him a real handful for any defence, and we believe he’s got all the raw tools to become a weapon for us out wide,” Gilmore said.

“What excites us most is his potential – he’s still developing as a player, and we can’t wait to see how he grows within our environment as he takes the next steps in his career.”

Sigauke said he had been impressed by Gilmore’s vision for Harlequins and believed the club’s attacking approach suited his style.

“I’ve spent time speaking with Gilly (Jason Gilmore) and I’m really bought into the brand of rugby he’s wants to build – it’s ambitious, it’s exciting, and it’s a style that suits how I want to play,” he said.

The move represents another significant step for Sigauke, who has gone from university rugby in South Africa to becoming an established member of the Zimbabwe national team and now earning an opportunity in one of the world’s leading domestic competitions.

He will join Harlequins’ squad as preparations begin for the new Premiership campaign.

“This is a new chapter for me, and I want to make the most of it – working hard every day, learning from the players and coaches around me,” Sigauke said.
