Tadiwanashe Marumani has been named in the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, marking his return to the national team.
The series begins on Wednesday at Harare Sports Club.
The other two fixtures are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the same venue, with all matches starting at 1.30 pm local time.
Marumani last played a T20I in February during the third match against Ireland, where he struggled to make an impact as an opener.
While the 23-year-old has shown promise on the domestic scene, he has yet to consistently translate that form to the international stage.
Since making his debut against Pakistan in 2021, Marumani has played 45 T20Is for Zimbabwe.
His inclusion is one of several changes to the squad, which also sees the return of veteran players Sean Williams and Brendan Taylor.
The series is a key part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which will be held in Harare later this month.
Zimbabwe will also be buoyed by the return of veteran all-rounder Sean Williams, who last featured in the format against Bangladesh on 12 May 2024.
Also making a comeback is experienced wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor, recalled to the T20I side after a lengthy absence from the shortest version of the game. Brad Evans is another inclusion, while Newman Nyamhuri, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa and Tafadzwa Tsiga miss out from the squad that contested last month’s triangular series against New Zealand and South Africa.
