Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou says Tawanda Maswanhise’s contract extension is ‘perfect’ for a player who is keen to learn and grow at the club.
Zimbabwean Maswanhise has added a year onto his deal, keeping him at Fir Park until summer 2027, with the club holding the option of a further year.
Maswanhise, 22, has impressed this season and he’s scored four goals already, having also done well last season after arriving from Leicester City.

Boss Askou said: “It’s very positive. He is a player that came here a year ago from one of the bigger academies in England, and he’s done really well.
“He played more and more last season, and this pre-season and the start of the League Cup and the league, he had done fantastically.
“We’re really pleased with his progress and his effort he’s showing, in terms of learning and growing, so it’s a fantastic news for us and for him, that we know he’s here for a little bit longer, so it’s perfect.”
Maswanhise told the club’s website: “Ultimately I wanted to stay, and signing this deal was a straightforward choice.
“The fans, players, and staff and all fantastic. I’ve felt valued by everyone, which motivates me to keep contributing my best.
