Mushangwe joins ACT Meteors

Australia-based Zimbabwean cricketer Anesu Mushangwe has joined the ACT Meteors for the coming 2024/25 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) campaign.

ACT Meteors, which is also populary known as the  Australian Capital Territory Women cricket team, is the women’s representative cricket team for the Australian Capital Territory.

They compete in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), the premier 50-over women’s cricket tournament in Australia.

They previously played in the now-defunct Australian Women’s Twenty20 Cup and Australian Women’s Cricket Championships.

Mushangwe was part of the 16 – member ACT Meteors squad which was announced last week and will also take part in the Twenty20 series that will precede the Weber WBBL alongside the eight franchise sides.

The 28-year-old, who has been capped 21 times by Zimbabwe in T20Is, played in Adelaide for the last few seasons, including playing 19 games for South Australia in the WNCL.

She also has WBBL experience, where she has been part of the Adelaide Strikers’ back-to-back title winning campaigns alongside Katie Mack who is now the ACT Meteors captain.

The team will be coached by Coach Erin Osborne.

Other new players joining the ACT Meteors include Canberra born and bred all-rounder Zoe Cooke, all-rounder Shivani Mehta and former Victorian Country leg-spinner Chelsea Moscript.
