Zimbabwean golfer Benjamin Follet-Smith continued his return to good form by claiming a dominant victory in the Bushveld Tour’s True Sport Series event at Waterkloof Golf Club in Pretoria on Friday.
Follett-Smith was in scintillating form as he carded spectacular rounds of 62 and 65 in the 30-hole competition for an impressive total of 17-under-par-127.
The Royal Harare Golf Club-based professional finished a massive six shots clear of Keegan Mclachlan after the South African carded scores of 68 and 65.
Follet-Smith claimed the R10,000 winner’s cheque but more important for him will be the fact that he was able to play consistently throughout the tournament after a run of difficult form on tour.
The rising Zimbabwean star, who is a winner on the Big Easy Tour and the Sunshine Tour, recently snapped a disappointing run of six missed cuts in succession on the Asian Tour by finishing T53 at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters a fortnight ago.
It was also a good outing for another Zimbabwean golfer in the field in Stuart Krog who finished in a tie for eighth.
Krog, who has been a regular competitor on the developmental Big Easy Tour in South Africa after turning professional early this year carded rounds of ng rounds of 70 and 68 for a total of six under par.
