Zimbabwe sealed a memorable ODI series victory over Bangladesh with a match to spare after Ben Curran’s second international century and Brad Evans’ outstanding all-round display inspired a thrilling 13-run win in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Curran carried his bat for a superb unbeaten 111 as the Chevrons posted 247 for six, while Evans struck a career-best 56 for his maiden ODI half-century before returning to claim 2-41, helping Zimbabwe dismiss Bangladesh for 234 in 48.1 overs.
The victory handed Zimbabwe an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series following their 25-run triumph in the opening ODI and completed another successful chapter in their recent resurgence against Bangladesh.
Evans’ crucial 91-run seventh-wicket partnership with Curran rescued Zimbabwe after the hosts had slipped to 156 for six, laying the platform for a competitive total. The all-rounder then made an immediate impact with the ball, while Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani also produced disciplined spells to keep Bangladesh’s chase in check despite half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan (57) and Towhid Hridoy (60).
The series triumph comes just weeks after Zimbabwe also defeated Bangladesh in a one-off Test, underlining the Chevrons’ growing confidence and consistency against the Asian side.
