England-born Zimbabwean midfielder Teshaun Tarumbidzwa Murisa has officially signed his first professional contract with English Premier League giants Arsenal F.C., marking a major milestone in his blossoming football career.

The 17-year-old, whose parents are from Zimbabwe, has been with the North London club since the age of six.

Eleven years later, Murisa’s dedication and steady progression through the ranks have been rewarded with a senior professional deal.

Murisa joined Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy as a child and has grown within one of England’s most respected youth systems. Having featured prominently for Arsenal’s U18 and U21 sides, the talented midfielder has consistently impressed with his composure, technical ability and maturity beyond his years.

Speaking after signing his contract at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Murisa described the moment as a dream come true.

“I’m very delighted to achieve my dream of signing my first professional contract, especially with such a big club like Arsenal,” he said.

“I’ve been here since I was six, so it means even more to me, and I’m just really thankful to my family for always supporting me. We’ve been through a lot together, so having them here is like how they’ve been with me forever, so it just means more.

“Coming through Hale End for about 10 years now, you see so many people go through the same journey that you want to go on; actually achieving it now just makes it feel even better.”

Murisa has been part of a strong generation of academy players who have progressed together through the age groups. During his youth career, he helped Arsenal lift the U16 Premier League Cup and featured in high-profile fixtures such as the FA Youth Cup clash against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

The Zimbabwean-heritage midfielder credits his teammates for playing a crucial role in his development.

“I think it helps us really connect together, not just on the pitch, but as friends as well.
We’ve become more like a family. So I really love playing with them, seeing them every day and just being around them.
Ones that standout are my midfield partners that I’ve had for a while. They’ve been Maalik (Hashi), Saurap (Sampang) and Max (Dowman) sometimes as well.”

His steady rise through the ranks underlines Arsenal’s continued faith in youth development, with Hale End consistently producing talents capable of competing at the highest level.

With Arsenal currently boasting a wealth of midfield talent in the senior squad, Murisa sees the first team as both inspiration and motivation. He has particularly highlighted the influence of England international midfielder Declan Rice.

“I think it’s really important to have players in the first team who you want to be like, because it gives you a goal that you need to aspire for and that you want to reach.
Especially certain players like Declan Rice, they give you advice and help and tips on what you need to do to get to their level.”

Learning alongside established Premier League stars provides Murisa with a clear pathway and standard to chase as he continues his development.

Murisa’s professional contract is not only a personal triumph but also a proud moment for Zimbabwean football supporters. As an England-born player with Zimbabwean roots, his progress will undoubtedly be monitored closely by fans back home and potentially by the Zimbabwe Football Association for future national team prospects.

At just 17, Murisa’s journey is only beginning. However, signing his first professional contract with a club of Arsenal’s stature signals both promise and potential. If his development continues on its current trajectory, Zimbabwe may soon have another exciting talent making waves on the global stage.

For now, Teshaun Tarumbidzwa Murisa has taken the first major step — turning a childhood dream at Hale End into professional reality.
