Warriors’ defender Munashe Garananga will get a chance to test himself against top English opposition after his Denmark side FC Copenhagen was drawn to play a Cole Palmer powered Chelsea in the last 16 of the UEFA Conference League.
The draw which was held at the UEFA headquarters today pitted Copenhagen against top seeded team in the draw.

Garananga started the match and lasted 83 minutes when Copenhagen overturned a one goal deficit to beat German side Heidenheim 4 – 3 after extra time away from home to make it into the draw.

The 24-year-old Zimbabwean star defender now has a chance to stop Chelsea who have been scoring for fun in the competition, netting 26 goals in six matches at an average of over 4 goals per game.
Chelsea have top forwards such as Christopher Nkunku who is the tournament’s top scorer, Palmer, Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho, Nicholas Jackson, and Noni Madueke.
However, Jackson and Madueke are currently injured may miss the two Conference League round of 16 matches.
The first leg will see Chelsea travel to the Danish capital at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium on Thursday March 6 with the reverse fixture set for Stamford Bridge March 13.
A week later Garananga will join the Zimbabwe national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Afcon finalists Nigeria.
The winner of the Copenhagen – Chelsea tie will face the winner between Legia Warsaw and Molde in the quarter-finals.
