Former LA Galaxy prospect Farai Mutatu says he is ready to showcase his talent at Zimbabwe’s most successful club Dynamos following his move to the Harre giants.
Mutatu, who seemed destined for the stars three years ago when he was picked by United States Major League Soccer giants LA Galaxy, has re-traced his footsteps to his country of birth to revive his faltering career.
Born in Zimbabwe before moving to Michigan as a six year old boy in 2006, Mutatu played for his hometown college at Michigan State University (MSU) where he was a standout performer and his impressive performances caught the eye of LA Galaxy coach Greg Vanney.
The 25-year-old footballer had a breakout 2021 campaign for MSU, tallying 7 goals and 3 assists in 17 matches. He finished his Spartan career with 13 goals and 8 assists in 67 appearances.
Dynamos announced the new signing during the past weekend.
“I am really joyful and excited with this opportunity to showcase myself, and I am raring to go. I am a striker and I love to score. I am ready to give everything on the pitch, try to to be the hardest working player. Fans should expect creative play and hard work,” he said in his first words at the new club.
“I had a great time in the United States. I am grateful for my career in the United States and looking at my career I think this was the best move and I am excited.
“I want to play for the badge. It was very easy ( to choose Dynamos), this is the biggest club in Zimbabwe and there’s no bigger name in Africa,” Mutatu added.

After failing to get an opportunity to play at LA Galaxy, Mutatu reportedly agreed to join local Sheasham as they prepared for the their debut appearances in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in 2023 but the move failed to materialise.
Mutatu joins Dynamos at a time when the club has been struggling to find a prolific striker in recent years.
Dynamos struggled to challenge for the title last season and finished in eighth place with 46 points from 34 matches, a massive 20 points behind champions Simba Bhora.
But Mutatu would have an opportunity to showcase his talent on the Caf Confederation Cup this year after Dynamos won the Chibuku Super Cup for the second year running.
