Red-hot teenage golfer Keegan Shutt enjoyed a brilliant second day at the Zim Amateur championship where he shot 69 and 68 to take a 10-stroke lead into the final round on Sunday.
Shutt, who has already bagged the Chapman Grand Slam and Champion of Champions this month, finished the day on 6 – under par to place himself in a commanding position to reclaim the title he won in 2022.
Defending champion Michael Wallace is Shutt’s nearest rival after carding 74 and 73 to close the day on a 4 – over par total having a first round 73.
Wallace, who recently dropped out school in the US where he was on golf scholarship at Midland College in Texas, will need to produce something special on Sunday snatch the championship from Shutt.
South African golfer Matthew Mortimer is third on the leaderboard behind two shots behind Wallace with a gross total of 222 after shooting scores of 71 and 78 to add to the first round 73.
It was a bad day on the course for first round leader Tariro November who struggled with scores of 76 and 75 on Saturday after shooting level par 72 on the first day as he slipped 13 strokes behind the new leader Shutt.
November is tied for fourth place with another US-based golfer Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa, who has just completed his studies at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Nyamukondiwa was in a five-way tie for second on one over after the first round and could only manage 70 and 80 on the second day.

It is an exhilarating contest in the ladies category as Margret Nyamukondiwa closed the two shot deficit between her and rival Danielle Bekker with the two golfers sharing the lead with a gross total of 235.
Bekker had a good morning round where shot 75 but struggled in the afternoon and carded 80.
Nyamukondiwa managed 77 and 76 set an interesting final day contest between the two US-based golfers.
The event is the country’s premier amateur competition.
